Abstract

Inserted in the process of revisitation of the nationalist discourse, the book My Dear cannibal, by Antonio Torres, creates a displacement of the images that constitute the indian’s historical-biographical profile, creating a reading space in which the differences in the discourse of national unit are revealed. . Seeking the recovery of indigenous memory, the romance, guided by a passionate storyteller, brings to light the debate about the representation of identity and, through ahistorical-fictional plot, relays the historical and literary discourses, tensing them. So to say, this articleseeks to analyze how torreana narrative, through the establishment of the image of Cunhambebe, builds a historicalbiographical profile of the indigenous, by putting into play the issue of otherness.
