The preservation of Rio Branco’s identity in the creation of Praça da Revolução

Abstract

The Plaza of the Revolution Colonel Plácido de Castro, located in the city of Rio Branco , Acre State, had his landscape rehabilitation project developed in 2005 by Burle Marx and Cia Ltda. As a prerequisite ,the establishment had to maintain a tangible relationship with the conservation of the place memory. This article presents a description of the creation of landscape design, from statements obtained in interviews the architect Haruyoshi Ono, director general of the Burle Marx and Cia Ltda., contextualized by the historical-cultural moment, to understand the scenario that reflects himself in their project decisions. Through this research it was noted that concerns about land conservation are transverse at the design and define their sustainability, encompassing culture, environment, and social, without losing sight the aesthetic and the preservation of the identity of the place, and summarize the ethical commitment of the contemporary landscape painter.
