considerations on the meta-biography of Rita Lee Jones by Henrique Bartsch

Abstract

Biographies of rock stars currently populate the shelves of bookstores, and, in Brazil, Rita Lee Jones drew a common path to other artists who exploded with the boom of the music growth of the 1980s. Ayrton Mugnaini Junior produced a first biographical sketch of the artist, but her most consistent biographer, Henrique Antonio Bartsch, besides composing a biographical record of the artist, kept a blog in which he reveals the inside story of making this “maddening” biography. Both Bartsch’s book – this fictional biography basically set from the late 1960s to the late 1990s – and blog provide important clues to understand the production and circulation of historical knowledge in the 21st century. In this proposed work, the elements of the practice of story that will help us conduct an analysis of these writing and circulation phenomena are in the historiographical studies such as from Barbara Tuchman, Giovani Levi and Paul Ricoeur. In this study, we intend to conduct an analysis of the writing of the biographer and “blogger” on the trajectory and life of the artist Rita Lee Jones.
