In the reader’s privacy: considerations on the personal library of the writer João Antônio – Cedap/Unesp-Assis

Abstract

In the context of teaching and practicing literary analysis, primary sources are important because they allow us to understand the particularities of an author’s creative process and the elements that shape their intellectual and aesthetic formation. Thus, this type of material reveals that aesthetic production is not the result of any “spontaneous conception” but of intense dedication and a long trajectory. This text  resents considerations about the personal library of the writer João Antônio, highlighting the criteria for organization, the most representative books in terms of reading records, and bibliographical references to authors present or not in his library mentioned by him in interviews. Information is also presented on the main Brazilian and foreign writers who are most expressive in his notes.
