Graphic novel as pedagogical potential in High School

Research such as Portraits of Reading in Brazil has shown low reading rates among Brazilians compared to those in other countries. Despite this, Portuguese language classes at school, in general, favor written verbal text, often neglecting other languages that could contribute to minimizing these rates. From this perspective, with the aim of enriching the possibilities of working with literature at school and contributing to the formation of the reader, this study, of a basic nature and of a bibliographic nature, seeks to discuss the insertion of graphic novels in high school. Although mostly ignored, this genre is increasingly present in the PNLD (National Textbook Plan), can be well received, sharpen students' creativity, in addition to offering the possibility of contact with contemporary themes and authors.
