Resumen

Os argumentos de David Armitage e Jo Guldi sobre a crise da história se baseiam em afirmações que possuem pouco, ou nenhuma, base factual; eles têm, igualmente, interpretado mal seus próprios dados. Desde que a dúvida plana sobre a natureza da crise, a narrativa dos autores sobre suas causas podem ser igualmente postas em questão. D. Artmitage e J. Guldi confundem micro-história e história cultural e, dessa forma, descaracterizam o trabalho dos historiadores culturais. Uma das alternativas a essa interpretação errônea é examinar os momentos precedentes à percepção de uma “crise” entre os historiadores. Eles mesmos, na verdade, se preocupam com problemas similares há quase um século. Para compreender a especificidade da crise atual, seria útil examinar, sobretudo, os efeitos da democratização contínua do ensino superior do que culpar alguns historiadores de terem desviado a disciplina de suas questões.
